Gruppo Antonini completes sail away of 95m, 2,500-ton jacket to Angola for the Maboqueiro project.
Gruppo Antonini has recently achieved a significant milestone in the Maboqueiro gas extraction platform project with the completion of the sail away of the jacket destined for the site in Angola. The 95-meter-long, 2,500-ton structure has departed from the yard in Italy and will cross the sea aboard a transoceanic tugboat. Traveling at a speed of 6-8 knots, the structure will be transported approximately 12 miles off the Angolan coast, where it will be submerged and anchored to the seabed, ready to play its crucial role in gas extraction.
The "sail away" operation marks the transfer of the completed structure from the construction yard to the offshore operational site, representing a crucial phase of a complex project like the Maboqueiro platform. Once it reaches its final position, the structure will be submerged to achieve vertical orientation and anchored to the seabed using an advanced piling system.
This phase, beyond being a technical milestone, is the result of meticulous coordination between engineering, logistics, and safety. The transport and installation process requires careful planning to ensure that every step proceeds smoothly, meeting timelines and technical requirements. Once installed, the jacket will be ready to support gas extraction operations, making a significant contribution to the development and growth of Angola's energy sector.
